Frequently Asked Questions

You likely experience solar energy on a daily basis.  Walk outside on any sunny day and you can feel the sun’s radiant heat and light.  This is solar energy!  Solar energy is an abundant resource, naturally heating our planet and lighting our days.  Modern technologies have allowed for the capture of this solar energy so we can put it to good use.   Adaptive Solar installs Photovoltaic solar panels, which use solar energy to create electricity using thin sheets of silicone.   Our solar solutions allow you to harness the solar energy of the sun to power your home.

Ready for solar energy to power your home? Start here.

Absolutely, YES!  Adaptive Solar installs solar panels for homes. Since we begin in 2010, we have installed solar panels for hundreds of homes in Houston.  When we customize the perfect solar panel system for your home, we look at a number of variables to determine the size of system that will meet your solar needs.  Software technologies allow us to use google earth imaging to check your roof for shading and mechanical obstacles using only your address.  We then determine how many solar panels could potentially be installed for your home.  Depending on your home’s energy usage and your desired energy offset, the cost of a home solar panel system can vary greatly, but generally a system will begin at approximately $10,000.  It is important to keep in mind that your home’s energy usage is directly related to the size and cost of the solar panel system, so energy-efficient homes are great candidates for solar!

There are many components that make up a solar power system, but these are the 3 major components: The solar panels, the inverter, and the racking. The first component of the solar power system is the Photovoltaic (PV) solar panel. This is the power component of solar system. It collects light from the visible light spectrum, and generates DC power. Without this component there would be no power from the solar system. The second component of the solar power system is the inverter. When the DC power from the solar panels hits the system it is unusable by the home. The inverter solves this problem by converting DC power from the solar panels to AC power. This inverted power is 100% compatible with your home. In fact the inverter reads the sine wave from the grid and matches it perfectly to create stable power flow. The third component of the solar power system is the racking system. The racking is the industry term for the components that hold the solar system on to the roof, so you could say it provides staying power. It includes the rails, that mount directly to the panel, and the anchors that mount to roof as well as various other components.

Enphase is the world leader in microinverter technology. If you are looking for a solution that gives you future flexibility and all of the bells and whistles you could hope for, Enphase is the right solution for you. With the architecture of an Enphase micro-inverter system, each panel is essentially it’s own solar PV system. This type of autonomy is only available in a micro-inverter system. Although Enphase is one among a handful of manufacturers making micro-inverters, they have proven to be the industry leader. Some of the great features that are available with the Enphase system is that they also have recently released a line of AC batteries. This is great for existing Enphase customers because they can add a battery or 10 ,and they are designed in to work together with their existing equipment. From one manufacturer you can get a holistic energy solution. This is a unique proposition in the market place. There are other advantages, as well but this system comes with a large price tag. If you are looking for the best bang for your buck this might not be the best choice, but if you want a ton of great options and are willing to pay for it, enphase is your product! Solaredge is a great value. With the solaredge inverter system you get all of the individual panel autonomy of a micro-inverter at a much better price. In very simplified terms all inverters provide 2 functions. The first function is to prepare the dc power to invert it and the second function is to actually invert it into AC power. Solaredge has taken these 2 functionalities and seperated it into 2 components. The DC optimizer and the inverter. Attached to each panel is a DC optimizer. This prepares the power to be efficiently inverted by the solaredge inverter. When all components are functioning properly it works similar to micro-inverters, the main draw back is that there is a single point of failure. If the inverter goes down, the whole system goes down. This is very rare, Solaredge is a high quality and very reliable inverter system. If you want the best bang for your buck in inverters, solar edge is the way to go!
